Roofing town page checklist

Use this before you publish a page for a town, or hand it to whoever builds your site.

Before you write

  • You really work in this town. You have done jobs there or take them there regularly.
  • No other page of yours already covers this town.
  • You have at least one true, specific thing to say about it.

Content

  • One H1 that names the service and the town.
  • A first paragraph that says who you are, what you do and where, in plain words.
  • The services you offer in that town, and only those.
  • Nearby towns you also serve, and only real ones.
  • Your own photos if you have them, with descriptive file names and alt text.
  • One local detail you can stand behind, such as the weather or the kinds of roofs in the area.

Trust

  • Your license number, if your state issues one and you hold it.
  • Insurance, only if you carry it and can show it.
  • A phone number that works. Hours only if they are true.
  • No awards, ratings or reviews you cannot show.

Technical

  • A page title with the service, the town and your business name, short enough to show in full in search results (around 60 characters is a common guide).
  • A short meta description that sums up the page (around 150 to 160 characters is a common guide; Google may rewrite it).
  • One H1 only.
  • Links to your main services page and your other town pages.
  • A tap-to-call phone number on mobile.
  • The page loads and reads well on a phone.

Final self-test

  • Swap the town name with another town's page. If nothing else has to change, do not publish.
  • Read it out loud. Does it sound like you?
  • Ask someone from that town whether anything in it is wrong.
